nah I think this is gorgeous all the way through
my fave thing this guy's been on in general is Dowsing Anemone and this has a similar feel in some ways, 'xcept it's more structure-y and less sparse

The only artist that deserves my "brand loyalty" is Bach tbh.

Finally reached a conclusion and decided a rating for this one. And that conclusion is... Not Hubardo, 4/5.
|
| |
First and last pieces are 4.5 or 5.0 material though. I'll just have to wait some time to finally listen to the ultimate Driver masterpiece.

Not Hubardo/5 is pretty much how I rate most albums
|

That's very powerful.

I like Hubardo and all, but first installment always wins at the end of the day for me...so it's a "Not Choirs Of The Eye/5" for me.

choirs is untouchable

Album Rating: 4.5
I think anyone who likes Toby's work would say Choirs is a pantheon tier album in his discography. Ultimately, my top 5 KD would be Choirs, Coffins, Hubardo, Dowsing, and PHOBOS. This album for me give or take would fall somewhere between Coffins and Hubardo.

Top 10 Toby albums are Bath>Choirs>Part the Second>Body Map>Dowsing>Hubardo>this/Coffins (not sure which is better yet)>PHoBoS=My Fruit Psychobells

Album Rating: 2.5
WTF? Psychobells last?!?! It's got Blight of River Systems and Undine and Underwater Flowers

2.5 what the h*ck

yeah I didn't get this record. I'll probably give it a few more spins though. Songs just seem to meander and I can't make sense of their structure. It's like they never end and they are never going anywhere. It has some nice moments though.

Those are just my top 10, Psychobells is excellent and like 8.5/10 imo. The production is the biggest issue, which I understand b/c they were still in college when they recorded it I'm pretty sure.

He played Scaffold of Digital Snow and Smoke-Scented Mycelium last night. Was rad.

I wasn't able to go see him when he came around here, God damn it. I'm still sad about it.
