Supposedly their new album is going to be even heavier then this one.
Also I can see this band breaking up after the next record cause Aaron will go solo, thus leading to a break.

If their next album is even heavier than this, than I shall definitely be giving it a look.
This really surprised me. Awesome album.

This album was ok, but the gay emo vocals are something I can't get past.

I wouldn't say they're gay.
Just whiny. As far as I'm concerned, clean vocals are a very hit and miss thing in a lot of bands. Dustin from Thrice is a good example of how to get it right I feel.

Exactly how I feel. Thrice are another one of those bands that I find really annoying in the vocal department. Usually I can get past the vocals, but these newer bands just have the whiniest vocals and they do nothing to improve upon them. It almost feels like a competition to see who can sound the most emotionally depressed!

lol Dustin's vocals on The Alchemy Index are far from whiny in my opinion.
I'm a huge fan of growled, screamed and whatnot vocals but I do understand it takes a lot of talent to be able to sing clean, without sounding whiny and being able to stay in tune.
Thats why I respect Mikael Akerfeldt so much. Because he owns whatever he does. But also, Claudio Sanchez, because his vocals hardly ever annoy me, especially everything on Coheed's first three albums.

Oh, wizard, check out Devil Sold His Soul.
I'm pretty sure the cleans on that are wonderfully non-whiny. The screams are fantastic too.

Returning Empty Handed on is the better part of the record. Casting Such a Thin Shadow, Moving for the Sake of Motion and To Whom It May Concern are awesome songs.
I pretty much agree 100%. Returning Empty Handed, Casting Such a Thin Shadow and Moving for the Sake of Motion are my favorite UO songs.

I know Chan! What would I do without your opinion to give me a life boost?
Oh, wizard, check out Devil Sold His Soul.
I do enjoy them from time to time.
MediocreAtbest,
Just take my opinions about vocals with a grain of salt. I'm more about the instruments than anything else. This Message Edited On 02.01.08

You're fine bro, unlike some people on here, I don't have a demeaning-your-opinion motive when I say things. My lol was a lighthearted observation; most people will agree that Dustin Kensrue is a fantastic vocalist.

No offense taken good sir, none at all. I was just stating that my opinion doesn't count when it comes to vocals because its the thing I always find least appealing with music.
The list of people with a demeaning-your-opinion motive on Sputnikmusic would stretch for miles.
