honeycomb to me represents all the things that deafheaven does, coalesced into one pretty great track. I hate that there are solos in this band but the solo in that song is good and helps the song, which is rare for them (and on this album). I had to jam it from ok-ish speakers while at work to really start to not hate a lot of it tho :p

I feel like Sunbather is more elaborated and it's more ambitious than this one. It also has more bite. This one just broke out of the cage and wanders happy out there. I personally like the softer stuff they tried on this, but it's normal that fans of the blacker stuff react to it negatively.

You Without End has a kind of festive Christmas themed feeling and then Honeycomb has to be an asshole and set the house on fire before presents were opened

i can see this driving me crazy after repeated listens IF the instrumentals failed to grow on me. no idea what I'd rate this, but it's good so far, but it's not even the same style as Sunbather so no need for Sunbather to worry about a contest

I’ve listened to this album multiple times now trying to dig and I just can’t. First 2 tracks are so bad. I dig Canary Yellow hard though.
