Man, idiots these days, just when you think they've died out you get responces like
I think you don`t know enough about music my friend.
I think James is one of the best singers out there. He can sing awesomely well live, man his voice is great.
and
how the hell can you give master of puppets a 1.5/5?
It's a sad sad place.

You did a lot to really scrape out everything you could possibly manage that didnt appeal to you about this album. It would have been better if you showed a different side in the review about how this album is one of the most influential albums of the 80s.
quick question drunken viking, ever hear the black album? like it?

Haven't heard it in a really long time, so I don't remember much.

Well, you've rated it a 1. So, you probably didn't like it.

Haha, since I haven't heard it in a while (or those other Metallcia albums) I'll delete the ratings for now.

You don't have to delete them. I've rated plenty of albums that I can't recall that well anymore. As long as the album is fresh in your head when you rate it, it's all good.

Heh, I already did, and I'm to lazy to change it back, haha.

I think you wrote this review for attention.
Congratulations!

I don't like when a con for any Metallica record is that James can't sing. Whether you believe that or not, he didn't come out on stage or in a studio to "sing" sing if you know what I mean (i.e. prog/power type vocals). He fits the music great IMO. So whether his vocals are to anyone's liking or not, they are good "Metallica vocals". I can't picture another voice doing a good job for the band.
Agreed. Although, it would be interesting to see someone like Bruce Dickinson sing a Metallica song, just to see what it would sound like. This Message Edited On 09.02.06

That would be interesting to say the least. I like both Maiden and Metallica but that combination would be, lets just leave it at interesting. How about if you flipped it around and had James sing on a Maiden track? The atmosphere would be completely wack due to the diverse vocal styles of the two compared to the music. Trippy stuff, you make an unique statement my friend and now I am curious... :DThis Message Edited On 09.02.06

I think Dickinson would work better with Metallica than Hetfield would with Maiden because Dickinson has a more diverse and varying voice. Either way it would be intruiging though.

Dream Theater covered this entire album, I saw a video of them performing the song Master of Puppets and it was unexpectably good. James LaBrie can add a harsher side to his opera-rock style voice that sounded rather decent.
Dickinson singing anything from this album wouldn't be that good.

Oh, something else about this review that bugged me is that you said some of the solos were predictable, i dont really see how. The leper messiah solo was nothing like the others cause it had that pretty sweet sweeping in the beginning, it was a nice change of paceThis Message Edited On 09.02.06

Another thing I didn't get is how you said all of the riffs sound the same. The Leper Messiah sounds nothing remotely like Disposable Heroes, which in turn sounds nothing remotely like The Thing That Should Not Be. This review sounds forced, and it seems like you were just looking for attention.

I can say what I want to about his review without you telling me to shut up. This is my first time criticizing him on this thread, and I feel I'm entitled to voice my opinion on the review. Why is that bad? Isn't the entire point of this thread to offer criticism of the review?

You'll forgive me. You're nowhere near the first to say that exact same thing about this review, ironically enough 9/10 people that say it have it rated at least a 4.5. The thesis that he wants attention is ridiculous. But hey, maybe you folks are right. Next time someone has a negative opinion on an album you guys like, I'll be sure to let them know that they're wrong.

Yeah, that sounds true.
Except this amount of criticism is almost never present for negative reviews written for popular albums. I have my reasons why I think this review is an attention plea, but they've mostly already been said and I don't really need to repeat them.

Why does it have to be some stupid conspiracy theory? Is it truly that hard to accept that he simply hates the album and wants to review it?This Message Edited On 09.02.06
