I'd call it tech death

I always considered it deathcore because it has some breakdowns, although they are pretty short iirc.

Planetary Duality is a mix of technical death metal and progressive metal with the occasional deathcore lick here and there. Not as much deathcore as Akeldama though, which was the most overt with those influences

Yeah, I re-listened to both of those albums yesterday and I can't concede that they aren't deathcore, although they are primarily tech-death. Akeldema is a lot more core-ish though for sure.

Holy shit how come I'm finding out about this only now
The flute solo in digging the grave is spiffy as fuck
Oh and Akeldama is deathcore alright. Planetary Duality - not at all

God why is metal supposed to be such a manly genre, yet the drama is the most delicious?

"...if you knew the events and the betrayal and disrespect I've received in the past few months, your jaw would hit the floor. It's a miracle I'm still standing."

There are fun moments, but there's something with the production and the compositions themselves that makes it feel quite soulless overall.
The band drama is funny. I don't really care about these guys much anymore though. There are better bands to listen to, like Slugdge

I was an addict and worked to support my habit, then detoxed when I ran out of money. Never stole once. I have a hard time sympathizing with people like this tbh.
