Doing a dive on these guys 2003 and onward. So far this is my second favorite after Heimdal, super fucking nice

This record is so much more weird than much from what came before actually. Fun trend really set in with this one.

this is great overall but man those harsh vocals are so wet. something about them just ain't my fave. been trending that way since Axioma.

as in they have too much reverb?

or are they physically making your ear lobes moist?

I'm yet to hear this, In Times or Heimdal. RIIIIIITITITITITITIIR was disappointing. Axioma is v good but less satisfying compared to whenever it was I first heard these guys

trending towards finding a greater appreciation of their early-mid (or "transition") era but as I'm a complete coward, my inability to commit to preferences has led to a lot of 'great' albums and only Eld being on top (although Hordanes Land is close)

I can relate to this as well, somehow. Grutle's vocals are awesome when they're playing the heavy speedy parts. However when they're going all proggy or psychadelic something doesn't feel right.

Now I'm ok with that, but this and to a certain extent In Times, took me a while to appreciate because of that. Still can't get into Vertebrae anyway.

as in the vocal folds are slapping together hard and slow, so the actual timbre of his growls is croaky and violent. to my ears it's just jarring against the smooth, clear sound of modern Enslaved.

it's not a dealbreaker obviously. just seeing if anyone else felt it didn't quite gel.

do you guys remember in like 2013-2014 when memes kind of imploded in on themselves and they started deep frying everything and we got a bunch of shit like this

every time I see this album title it always makes me think of that meme hahaha
