I think A Single Tear is pretty unique for a Converge track, definitely one of the most emotional tracks they’ve done

mayhem i think that’s what the intro reminded me of as well. as for being generic, as someone else said, i can’t agree with that. pretty incredible bannon is giving us his most vocally diverse (and possible best performances) on an album over 20 years into their career.

I feel like some of the music on these latest songs feels slightly more generic for being them. I felt like that about All We Love We leave Behind (the song) too. A Single Tear reminds me a bit of that song - it's a more generic metalcore riff in both.
Bannon sounds absolutely vicious on everything from this so far though.
