I fucking wish I could see them live with Necrot (Blood Offerings is top 5 DM of 2017 btw), but the closest show they're playing to me on the current tour is all the way in San Bernardino at Knottfest.. not paying a festival ticket price for a shit festival like Knottfest to see 2 bands, haha

So I just bought my ticket to the show, and then listened to them for the first time. This is gonna be a fun show! It's heavy as all shit but has such bouncy and melodic lead guitar and drums. I love it. The new album, at least. Love how the songs are all about the same length. Short and sweet.

These guys are so much fun live. Trevor is everything you could possibly want in a lead singer for this kind of music. Dude bounces around the stage with his fist in the air like a nut.

I mean, i could definitely ask for better low end growls, but yeah, his scream is pretty great.

I meant as an entertaining to watch front man.

Well you said "everything you could possibly want in a lead singer," sounded like you were talking about all aspects, but shiiiiiieeeeet.

On Everblack now. Ok, I'm not gonna lie, there's some homogeneity in the songwriting. This is just from one listen of two albums, and of course that dissolves upon repeated listens of anything.
But it feels....not detrimental here? I don't feel like this needs to be progressive in any way. I love it. They nail the sound. Just seems like something that'll be really fun live.
Good to hear about the vocalist too. I've seen a few too many extreme metal bands who's members just stand there on stage looking like depressed beefcakes going through the motions.
Suffocation will be interesting. I'm not so much a fan of their music, but I'd like to say I saw them live.

Once you hear one TBDMDMDNDBMBM album, you've essentially heard them all. Same for ABR, same for Bolt Thrower, same for Revocation, same for Chevelle, same for Meshuggah, etc.
This is not a complaint on my part.
|
| |
Yeah. I once accidentally caught ABR when they opened for BTBAM a couple years ago (and Good Tiger....meh). I couldn't tell the songs apart at all. Still ended up being tremendously fun!

Few bands can get away with doing the same thing over and over imo. But even with the bands that can, once i reach 4 or 5 albums, i tend to lose interest.
|
| |
So you aren't yet 4 or 5 albums into TBDM??

Agreed man, Amon Amarth is like that for me where I'm just tired of them at this point, and if I want to listen to AA will just throw on With Oden By Our Side.

I know a lot of people feel that Cannibal Corpse are tiresome, but they work wonderfully for me too and they've been singing about murdering people to relatively straight forward death metal for over two decades now.

"Once you hear one TBDMDMDNDBMBM album, you've essentially heard them all. Same for ABR, same for Bolt Thrower, same for Revocation, same for Chevelle, same for Meshuggah, etc"
nah man each Bolt Thrower album is distinctively different. Most of Meshuggah's albums are pretty different too. Revocation and ABR have smaller shifts in their albums.
