I've figured out why this album doesn't resonate with me, and I might get shit for the explanation. She's obviously a talented songwriter, but I never feel that she needs to express these thoughts. Contrast that with Baker where there's always an urgency to her expression. Maybe Bridgers is fortunate enough to not have gone through the harrowing life experiences that lead to that mode of creativity, but the result is art that's a tad bloodless and staged. This is the kind of music that requires introspective words, so they are provided. Sung beautifully but without necessity. Idk.

Ya know Lucid, you might have just cracked this one for me. I've always felt this was very overrated. There's such simplicity here that without that resonant emotional weight, there's just not enough to grab onto
