No it's not. The main songwriter was asked several times about the band name in interviews (it's not a common saying or anything like that). He said it's about the band being his "way" to make and release music and that'sa kind of freedom to him.
Actually the first album was intended to a one shot, so "Der Weg Einer Freiheit" was the name of the whole project instead of being a band name.

I mean the band is German itself, I really doubt they just winged their bandname. Elfsgedroch uses archaic Dutch to the same effect while being technically grammatically modern, which is my point.
