Indeed. I still have to check TPS and Bilateral, but I'd rank the other albums like this: Malina > The Congregation = Coal

Bilateral > TPS > this > Congregation > Coal
they're all great albums regardless

Then do it Kalk. Bilateral is so damn ambitious and unlike a lot of other prog metal releases

I wouldn't go that far but they are certainly one of the most consistent and notable rock/metal acts of this decade along with peers like Arcane Roots

I wish they toured the states more, a 35 - 40 minute set doesn't do them justice here in the states.

Well, at least you guys get regular Tool shows. There hasn't been one in Europe since 2007 or something

The same can be said for the bands of foreign nationalities tbh

haven’t stopped listening to this since I saw them. I’ve never seen a tour opener get a crowd reaction like they did from a bunch of people who seemed to be as unfamiliar as I am.

finally giving this band a chance after not being so impressed with what I initially heard on Coal. the opener on this really is one helluva track. very positively surprised.

I still think The Congregation is the best introduction to this band.
While it is repetetive at points, it's still more prog metal than this and features some of his best vocals and most of their vocals melodies are incredibly catchy

I'm not necessarily looking for prog metal although that is nice too. if anything I hope more of their material sounds like this one, because this was a fantastic listen.
I decided to start from the beginning however, so I'm jamming Tall Poppy Syndrome right now. it has some interesting guitar-work and syncopation. definitely sounding more metal than this release which sounds more like a Latitudes, Radiohead & Mew lovechild.

I gave The Congregation a listen and while it's very solid, this is just a different beast all together. been jamming this non-stop the last two days and it's just fantastic. everything from the production (which I enjoy a lot more than on The Congregation) to the song-writing is just so on point.
