Never listen to indie rock apart from The Dear Hunter, guess this would be right up my alley?

yes, lol ^
In all seriousness I will return to this - I get the feeling there are one or two tracks here worth a download.

"but it's widely regarded as their best"
huh, guess no-one can have a dissenting opinion then, righto
doof you can talk out your ass all you want man but until you can do more than "uhh sounds like [insert the first 4 indie bands that come to mind] because [vague reasons]" you're shouting at a brick wall my man

Row that's why I just responded to Sowing and described why I don't enjoy this band's sound here
As this is one of the major indie 'doofcore' releases of the year I'll have to have an opinion on this. Building up to this I checked their older albums, wasn't overly impressed.
Of course people can have a dissenting voice but when they claim it's a flop then it has to be pointed out that by all major measures it's been a success.
As well this might, here I am the dissenting voice, allow me to vent please.

And over-produced isn't over-everything. They've been adding a layer of gloss to their sound ever since Simple Math so I can get behind that - but the rest is bullshit and you know it. Over-sung? Really? Not everything that surpasses hushed baritone vocals (which is more of an indie trope) lacks subtlety. It seems to me you want everything to have a grainy "organic" feel, and anything that doesn't fit the mold is insincere and made for gullible chumps.

doof please tell me "doofcore" is an ironic concept

the only people I've seen giving the new fleet foxes high ratings are the people who were going to give it high ratings regardless of what was actually on the album tbh. I swear the fanbase to that band is some sort of cult that I missed the membership day for because that album is booooooooring

Being a dissenting voice is fine and encouraged, but I feel like you can't place your finger on why you dislike it. I'd take the time to pinpoint those reasons before debating with lifelong MO fans.

'doof please tell me "doofcore" is an ironic concept'
I did not coin this phrase, apparently I have identifiable taste of '90% chamber pop and indie'

Anyway, this isn't bad I just find it over-egged and try hard. That is the crux of my complaint, if Half Moon Run are on the borderline for me then these dudes go off the cliff.
That may in fact be their appeal, it's just not for me. So now everyone knows why I rated this doofcore release a 2.5.
In other news the new Arcade Fire is bad, a 2 at best, I'd avoided listening to the singles in advance to give it a fair crack. 'Put Your Money on Me' is a great tune though.

That transition from The Alien to The sunshine is so calm.

Just listened to the first half of the album again, still not feeling it. The best moments on the new Arcade Fire stood out more than anything here tbh, though this doesn't ever drop below ok whereas the AF really plumbs the depths of terrible

Is this worth my time, or would I fall on the Doof side of the equation?
