but i heard that metallica is trying one more time and theyre gonna make music like RTL and MoP and if it dont sell they are just gonna quit
I'd love to be able to believe that, but after Saint Anger, I think even if they do make more stuff like that then they'll somehow fuck it up, too. Oh, and wasn't St. Anger supposed to be a harken back to their thrash roots?

I can't believe so many of you think ti's only problem is the lack of solos.. The Unnamed Feeling is the best track in my opinion, and along with St. Anger the only highlights on this atrocity... And they're not even that good. I could probably name 3 songs off of each of Metallica's other cd's that are better.

I gave it a 4, I really enjoyed this album a lot. Sure, it isn't their best, but they tried something new for crying out loud, and I respect that

This album is terrible. So they tried something new and they did it terribly, nu-metal is not what Metallica is supposed to play. If I wanted a nu-metal album I would have bought Hybrid Theory or Follow The Leader. I wanted a thrash metal album, which is what they told us St. Anger was going to be. The lack of solos doesn't even matter to me since the songs are so long and monotonous anyway, even a solo couldn't break them up enough to make them interesting. The only person I would reccomend this album to is some nu-metal fan, since it is better than almost all the nu-metal out there now, and even then the songs are so long, it would be hard to keep his attention past the first 3 minutes. The post is too long so its in 2 parts.

Metallica has the rare feat of putting out some of the best metal albums of all time, and one of the worst metal albums of all time. As for Bob Rock having trouble playing bass and producing, it is Metallica he had all the funding in the world he could have made the album sound polished and finished, instead it sounds worse than some garage band recordings I have heard. The only positive thing I can say about this album is that it has some really cool cover art. This is the one Metallica album that I feel ashamed to own (even Load and Reload while not the best were listenable). I take this album as an experiment made by a band that is past its prime and is trying to keep up with the current trends that spawned from the trends it set years ago.

you have a good point, but i wouldve given it at least a 3.5, where it lacks solos, the heavy riffs are still great, i respect them for trying new, an lars did an awesome job with the double bass, soooo fast lol an it is not their worst album *coughs* load/reload *coughs* liked it, but mostly you were right, just a bit higher rating wouldve been better

I personally believe that this is worse than Load and Reload, because those albums had tracks that I could listen to the whole way through. I can't listen to any of these tracks in their entirety they become to repetitve and boring after 4-5 minutes.

I understand that (in fact I don't recall a single solo), but if you had read the rest of the comments you would understand that most people have bashed this album mainly because of the lack of solos, therefore my comment then makes sense.

I would have to agree with bahamut_ali (back on page. 15), This Met album ****ing rocks!!! The raw
style, the open feelings, the atmosphere of this album just makes me realise how
much Metallica Rocks!!! Now i was one of those people who didn't like St. Anger
the first time i heard it, but a second time found me Frantic, probably the best
song on the album. a third, fourth, and fifth time made me realise the true kick
a** album metallica went for. and after watching Some Kind Of Monster makes you
Appreciate the making of the album... mock it if you want, but this album
kicks!!!

Thanks to Lars and James.

Seriously, Mr. Hammet and Mr. Trujillo are probably the only ones I respect in that band anymore.
