learn it con, the basics take a little bit to get used to, the rest is just practice. Having said that, I've played for 2 years and still sound like shit, not putting enough practice in

"I wish i could play guitar"
Don't wait any longer, just do it. Playing even the easiest song will give you tremendous satisfaction. As AsleepInTheBack said it, the basics are super easy, the advanced staff may take longer to master but it is all a matter of practice and dedication to your craft. But once you've learned to play, you will feel like a god.
Trust my word and start playing. It's never too late ;)

honestly once you get past the first six months or so playing guitar is pretty chill in my opinion
the first while where you have no idea what you're doing is the worst though, and most people don't get past that stage

Yeah, because they believe they will become the next Joe Satriani within the first few months and once they see it's not THAT easy, they get discouraged.
It takes months of practice to accomplish a decent level, but it's all worth it.

I never took lessons, I just started learning songs I wanted to learn
This approach is more fun, it also only really works if music just makes sense to you, like being able to follow rhythms and patterns has always just been instinctual to me, but if you want to actually learn theory you should probably learn scales and chords and shit. Or if you have a hard time maybe lessons

Everything trebor said. I got a solid 3 months of consistent practice over the summer between the end of school and the beginning of uni and that really smoothed out the initial learning period, so I'd recommend that Con

200-300 for a serviceable one
You could go acoustic, or if you go electric you can get a decent amp for like 100

imo, going to a music school is essential if you're a beginner, but it's kinda hard to find a really good teacher
