"Everything non-Radiohead is considered a 3"
This, every rating I see on RYM is closer to a 3 than it is to a 4, anything except Radiohead ofc, like you said

Gojira's always been a band that attracts dilusional crybabies and godawful edgelord pussys. yall can pathetically 1, 2 or 3 them but their monolithic popularity growth withstands any pitiful trolling attempt out of sheer ignorance. no ones gonna remember u anyway

I did a discography run of these guys and they are one of the most overrated bands ever. Repetitive stiff riffing in most of the material. But then I got to Magma and thought it was really awesome and memorable. The new one blows hard though. There are many bands that make them mostly obsolete

Wtf you are talking about, even if you don’t like them there’s not really any bands that quite compare

That's where the low point started for me

Ok to be fair I thought some tracks Way of All Flesh and Sauvages were great. And Terra Incognita had some good stuff. The other material didn't click with me. Born for one thing seemed like the only great song on the new one. And yea they have their own sound but I other bands groove harder and hit harder so I'd just rather listen to them. Like I feel like they are often in a middle ground where they aren't technical enough to have a lot of substance but still too technical to lay in to the grooves as hard as I'd like. Magma seemed to groove the hardest, have more atmosphere and a more interesting identity.

The thing i don't like about the latest album is how simple the songwriting has become. Most of the songs seem to follow the verse/chorus/verse structure and the guitar melodies or vocal hooks aren't strong enough to keep me hooked. You listen to the first 1:30 minute of the song and you know how the whole thing sounds.
Adding some boing boings doesn't cut it imo

For sure. You just get a sense you've heard it all after the first chorus besides a small bridge. But come on, the boing boings rule
