nice Xing! tell me where does Scary Monsters land for you cos that's my fave

on a more sombre note "I swear I will not look back, as I return into the black/When the veil lifts, how will I know?/How will I know?/Will I see God?" that shit is fucking heavy in Memento

I'd heard all of Bowie's material sans his late 80's and 90's stuff, so realistically I could have rated most of his stuff already. Scary Monsters is a 4.5 for me though. Favorite Bowie has always been Station to Station followed by Low.

First impressions of this album, Row?

pretty much agree with what Xing said. with this band I've always been in the minority in that I actually really, really liked the Here and Now and wished they would incorporate the softer elements of that album again, because it seemed like they compensated for how badly the fanbase took it by making every song they made from then on exactly the same. this album's a little more diverse but still suffers badly from repetitiveness, and I don't know why they didn't chuck softer bits like that one chorus of Gone With the Wind in especially because Sam is such a good clean vocalist. but the good bits here are really good

I hate most of THAN except for a couple tracks, such as Red Eyes, but I liked when they switched things up a bit here. I really enjoyed the moments when there are no guitars playing and it's just the keys or the softer bits like Gone with the Wind. All Love is Lost is one of my favorite tracks here though, love how sludgy it is.

Year In, Year Out is cool and the album definitely has a few songs that they shouldn't have disowned but the album as a whole is a shitstain on their discography.
