4.2.... I dno. Need to give it a proper listen still (only heard the pre-release tracks) but this is blatantly intronaut going back on already covered ground. The name implies it, the cover art is a jumble of their previous arts. Can't imagine anything on here being as awesome as Elegy, but maybe

this is prob my favorite thing of intronaut's yet. there are some genuinely beautiful moments here - i had to immediately listen to "unlikely event" a second time on my first listen, it caught me so off-guard.
you also can tell these guys are touring with btbam and played w/ cloudkicker onstage - i hear a very distinct influence on this record. not only in the songwriting but in the production, everything's pretty crystal clear. and i'm generally meh about that kind of production ultimately but i think it works super well here, especially in the proggier moments.
also the harsher vocals are SO well-done goddamn

sorry but i can't see the appeal :/ too much technical wankery and bored-sounding clean vocals, nothing apart from a few cool heavy parts grabs me at all. the whole thing sounds pretty lifeless tbh

Yes to just about everything you said. But I did the exact same thing when I first listened to the album the first time. I had to go back and replay digital gerrymandering and water landing, those tracks hit me hard on first listen.
Also, the title track has grown considerably as well. This album has great replay value too.

way heavier than their last release off the bat, me likey

the first vocal section of digital gerrymandering sounds exactly like selkies, and the chorus sounds like the contortionist. i always thought it was weird that these guys toured with "those" bands, but it seems like they picked up some influence

cloudkicker def rubbed off on them

for sure....forgot that happened. that tour was so good
not mad at them expanding their sound, but still prefer the rawness of the first couple albums

I think I definitely favor this over any of Cloudkicker's best a little more.

Similar sound could just be a tribute since they do play with these other bands quite often or just incidental.

playing my city with Enslaved and BTBAM... dang, gotta check this out
