I've seen these guys live so many times that I don't know if I want to take off work specifically to see them. On the other hand, I am hyped as fuck for their new album

this somewhat embarrassing writeup on the deathwish site:

“The album contains four beautifully brooding epics; “To: Achlys”, “A World of Joy”, title track “A Patient Man”, and “The Broken Right Hand of God”. Each one of them carries a maturation and sense of melody that few “extreme” bands have within their arsenal. Proving that aggressive music still has much to offer the world in terms of originality, creativity, and emotion.”

I hope they don’t suck and that they either use a majority of harsh vocals or find a way to integrate them with more creative songwriting than the slower tracks on this.

The only new song they played this weekend was Healed.

Yeah that new song isn’t very good. Idk why they couldn’t get someone who can actually sing to feature on it.

Well, new song is making me think that I'll have to rely on new Portrayal of Guilt to carry my hopes of a hxc AOTY

God I feel like I'm listening to an embarrassing fall from grace, To: Achlys is really not as good as any slow song from Lightless Walk

That new portrayal of guilt is gonna be fuckin rad. Got the privilege of seeing them live a few months ago, they rocked the joint.

Hmm. I'm gonna throw on Portrayal of Guilt. Never heard them before. But this new Cult Leader is weird.

portrayal of guilt’s new lp has a good chance to be the best record of the year, and they’re really great live. can’t believe it’s both the same vocalist and drummer as illustrations

also completely agree that this new cult leader song was worse than all the same of its kind on lightless walk

Portrayal of Guilt is going to have to be truly amazing to top The Armed this year.
