he traveled the world as a journalist before he got known for being an atheist speaker, so he reeeeeeally hated totalitarianism in any form and that's why he was pro-Iraq War, not necessarily bc he was xenophobic. He saw stuff first-hand and pretty much made it his goal to speak about it.

im being respectful, i havent said a single negative thing about the victims of this tragedy. im just saying that there are tenets of islam (and other religions, for all you relativists) that are pretty backwards and naturally lead to this type of thing. it sucks and i wish it didnt happen :/

some people just pointed out a trend in islam in present history that's not being expressed in other religions. that's all.

i still think that hitchens had an extreme dislike of islam that led to his view on iraq. there was just no justification for it, especially since he was against intervention in almost every other instance. and i know he hated totalitarianism, ive read plenty of his books, most of which from before he was "the atheist on the daily show" to most of america

and as far as gun control, im the only democratic voter i know who doesnt support a full-on ban on guns. im for background checks and thats it. i mean i personally think guns are a lame ass hobby and a waste of money, but i smoke weed and eat fast food, we're all allowed to waste time and money as long as we're not hurting others

I didn't say the whole thread was generalizing Muslims, but you had several comments that ended in LOL like you're making a damn joke. All I said was now is not the time. I don't blame Islam for this but if that were your opinion I would be OK if you presented in a way that was respectful to the fact that the hundreds of people just died
