I've found Sputnik and Pitchfork to be pretty similar. I feel like Consequence of Sound has gotten a lot more brutal lately regarding hyped music.

Actually pretty surprised by this record, way better than their previous stuff. Also, it's pretty hilarious that a band that just released a atmoblack album still has to deal with being lumped into the same "hipster" category as an indie rock band.

"Or maybe it's just that people with better taste overall have better music taste too"

I never said anything about hipsters having bad taste tho, just that they more-or-less tend to trust Pitchfork's judgement
and that there's a lot of them on Sputnikmusic

It gives them more push to listen to a release, but I don't think it forces them to rate it highly once they do hear it.

obviously it doesn't force them to rate highly but you can expect a lot of hype for albums that get high scores on Pitchfork

"I'd like to see more people talking about how much better the vocals are on this release. He sounds pissed."

I love these new vocals. They're awesome! It's a welcome change. These vocals wouldn't have fit on Sunbather and Sunbather's vocals wouldn't have fit on here.

Their visual aesthetics are somewhat hipster, but I don't think that should dictate the band. Besides, I'm a guy and I'll say George Clarke is a pretty man. If I looked like that I'd have my hair all perfect too.

I don't think the vocals sound better here, but I agree with the sentiment that they wouldn't fit on Sunbather and vice-versa. That being said, I like Sunbather's more. They were more unique.

its only considered hipster because of a. a majority of the fanbase and how they jumped on the bandwagon even at judah and b. its clean, gazey black metal that shares some of the stylistic tendencies with real black metal but lacks a lot of the dynamics that make black metal what it really is

Is the outro for Come Back the Twin Peaks song? It's sweet

I just listened to Come Back again and it does sound a bit like Twin Peaks' main theme at the end. Very chill moment

Yeah, I pulled up the Twin Peaks song, but didn't make it to the end. So, maybe that is it. Just feel like I've heard it or something very similar before
