I'm not part of that crowd I just didn't think it was amazing

But you see, that's the thing. It IS amazing.

I'm not part of the "post-rock is dead" crowd at all but I didn't think this was amazing. Good technical ability and execution on a lot of these songs. The last song is even breathtaking at one point. But the whole journey of the album just didn't engage me. Doesn't flow in a way that I was able to get lost in.

That's sad
|
| |
I know, it is sad. I wish I liked this more. It has all the ingredients and some great tracks. But if it doesn't take my mind somewhere else while I listen to it, and it doesn't paint any imagery for me, or really make me feel all that much, then unfortunately I can't say that the album works for me. Entirely subjective and something I can't control.

That said, it is still a good album and really impressive and fun at times, hence my rating.

Every now and then I'll give this a spin front to back and a different song just grabs me and takes me away from whatever I was thinking about or whatever was bothering me that day... Might just be my all time favourite album.
Hopefully they drop a new one soon.

It's about time they do.

An incredible live band. By sheer dumb luck, my first exposure to them was when they opened for Katatonia last year. That show in general minus the first band that night (whose name I can't remember atm) was one of my favorite concerts of last year. I didn't even know who Caspian were prior (didn't bother w/even sampling them a bit prior to the show) but they won me over purely by putting on a great set. I don't think I've ever come across a band live that I wasn't familiar with who left that strong of an impression on me before or since.
