They're pretty big but I agree with coleman, since they got a little bit of popularity their fanbase went to shit

Tumblr killed a fanbase, what else is new?
Also, I don't care if they get bigger or not, I just want something better than most of what was on this album.

Genre-mashing duo Twenty One Pilots go the concept album route on their 4th LP 'Blurryface'. An alter ego of Tyler Joseph, the titular character represents the lead vocalist's mental issues, resulting in a mostly involving lyrical thread. Utilizing a number of producers, the act's usual electro-pop/rap/rock hybrid is on display, but this time with some misguided reggae. There's a fine line between being diverse or wayward, and this overlong 52 minute record crosses that line during its weaker latter half. Still, it's more ambitious, creative & interesting than your average 3OH!3 LP. Recommended Tracks: Stressed Out, Lane Boy, Tear in my Heart & The Judge.

the songs are pretty catchy and enjoyable, but the songwriting is some of the shittiest, hypocritical, and try hard shit i've heard in a long time. it makes it really hard to enjoy any song that deviates from the album's concept (which happens a fucking lot)

all of them are so fake deep it's annoying they over analyze the shit out of every lyric like "gangsters don't cry therfore therfore i'm, mister misty eye therfore i'm" hm i believe tyler's red beanie symbolizes his affiliation with, though not exclusively, African American street gang founded in Los Angeles, California known as the bloods, therfore making him a gangster. his tough exterior prevents him from crying despite the atrocities of gang violence he has witnessed, which in turn, leads to him not crying and instead leaving him misty eyed

what's the album's concept?
|
| |
not even a super consistent concept he just personified his anxiety and fears and insecurities into this character he refers to a few times on the album

let us not forget tho how generically this concept is laid out in front of the listener through just bottom of the barrel lyrical content and song variety lol

"But it would remind us of when nothing really mattered
Out of student loans and tree house homes, we all would take the latter"
"Forget sanity, forget salary, forget vanity, my morality"
"Yeah I think about the end just way too much
But it's fun to fantasize"
"who would you live for? Who would you die for?
And would you ever kill?"
"But I'm not good with directions
And I hide behind my mouth
I'm a pro at imperfections
And I'm best friends with my doubt"
"I wanted to be a better brother, better son
Wanted to be a better adversary to the evil I have done"
"I don't care what's in your hair
I just wanna know what's on your mind
I used to say I wanna die before I'm old
But because of you I might think twice"
"Though I'm weak
And beaten down
I'll slip away into this sound
The ghost of you is close to me
I'm inside out
You're underneath"
"I’ve got two faces
Blurry’s the one I’m not
I need your help to take him out"
fuck you torts
