I listened to this twice so far, but I'm giving it more time tomorrow, I've been listening to Enslaved's new album today, haha.

Ancestral is a beast of a song.

Hopefully it will, at least the people who complained that his last 2 albums were 70's prog tribute albums can't say that anymore.

I still think it sounds like 70's prog

But I don't have any problem with that

This has moments of classic 70's prog but as a whole the album is certainly pretty innovative and diverse.

I just realized the first verse of Ancestral reminds me of Dredg.

It's nice and catchy but there's plenty more breathtaking/better crafted songs on here.

The opening to 3 years older has got bits of The Who in there.

Know your place Steve!

I actually thought there would be more female vocals than there is, as he put a lot of emphasis on them in the studio videos. Either way, the album still sounds great and when they do appear they add a lot to the song.

Steve's vocals actually have some genuine emotion on here, damn is the apocalypse coming? Steve having an album better than Opeth? :O
