Born Villain has some solid tracks but it was about 20 minutes too long

Talking more about a solid, heavy production, really bud. The last two weren't great in that aspect. This one is a definite foot in the right direction though.

This is so much better than the previous two, The Pale Emperor or Eat Me, Drink Me are definitely my favorites since the trilogy.

I'll add Grotesque to that since I like it a bit more than Eat Me, Drink Me.

Born Villian just sounded really cheap, and it was compressed as all hell.

Agreed with the above statements, Born Villain might even be inferior to High End for me, had some cool songs for sure.

This. Though GAOG still has my favourite production from the discog.

GAOG has my favorite production from the discog. [2] I was actually blown away when I listened again after so many years by the production, mixing, and guitar tone. It's probably why I have it rated as high as I do haha

It does sound massive and it's easy to forgive certain things about it bearing in mind the concept intended.

Concept? GAOG was the first non-concept album since the debut, wasn't it? I thought it just had a theme.

Yes, I meant the theme of death of art or whatever it was.

y'all, is this a good album to begin w/ this guy's discography? if not, where should i start? i heard this dropped the industrial influences for a more organic (and 'blues-ish') sound, so it's sounding v. appealing to me

what do

Yeah, just start with this if you dig the style, then go for the triptych (1996-2000 stuff).
