Haha, that's exactly how I felt before I listened to them. Most bands with names like this suck, but these guys are very much an exception.

The last song almost makes me want to cry for some reason. It feels so nostalgic for me even though I didn't start listening to them until a few years ago. Anyway, this album is awesome. Just wish they mastered it quieter because it definitely suffers from pretty bad dynamic range compression.

I'm not liking this as much as I hoped I would, these guy just don't scratch the itches I have when it comes to post-hardcore. They're clearly very talented guys but the songs never quite gel for me :/

I'm definitely gonna give it at least one or two more listens before giving up on it, yeah. I could see bumping this up to a 3.5 but anything higher seems unlikely at this point.

1. they should have shitcanned the string outro to “source tags and codes”. That’s one of my favorite songs, and I think that part is terrible. I literally never listen to it. The interlude type things on here are all sorta corny, in fact

2. EVEN were they to shitcan that I like the album better closing with “blood rites” despite my deep love of “source tags and codes”

I've only heard blood rites when playing this on vinyl and think its kinda lame tbh...

wow aside from the string outro on which i agree with you, the interludes are so perfect here, particularly invocation and the fadeouts between baudelaire/homage and before days of being wild

yeah the interludes are essential here but there's a lame af north american cut which takes them all out if u want to live dangerously
