Just got this and it is awesome. I'm seeing them in late May next year.. I saw some videos of their recent tour and they're doing great on stage, so excited.

I feel this album is getting too much credit. I don't feel the need to go back to it after a handful of listens.

I'll agree there isn't much replay value, but damn is it a good listen in short bursts.

I'm between a 3 and a 3.5. this is not by any means close to antics or tobl. Best tracks for me so far are My Desire, Anywhere and Tidal Wave. I find the second half weak except for Tidal Wave. Gonna give it more spins in order to rate it.

The closer is pretty good though.

I'm not digging the closer. I find it quite repetitive...

Yes perhaps but it creates this dreamy bleak atmosphere with the guitars and the vocals and damn.

Get what you mean, but still it lacks something for me. On the other hand, I totally got mesmerized by Tidal Wave, maybe one of the finest Interpol songs...

I think a 3 is a very drastic rating for this one, taking into account that I consider El Pintor a big improvement over the self titled album, but a 4 is way to high. It has a great start but the second half lacks something for me, so I think a 3.5 is a fair rating.

Was supposed to see these guys on Tuesday in Toronto but it got cancelled unfortunately. They were coming from Buffalo, who got a fuck ton of snow so it's certainly understandable

Funny you mention depth because one of the b-sides to this album, The Depths, kicks so much ass
