I really liked WITTRs first four LPs almost equally. As I would listen to Diadem i'd think "this is definitely my favorite album by WITTR!" then i'd listen to Two Hunters and think the same thing... then Black Cascade and Celestial Lineage too. That's how I knew I loved em all equally haha.
I definitely think Thrice Woven is a step down from the first four, pretty much entirely due to the production. I genuinely like the songs but the production is so flat and boring to me. I elaborated on this on a comment I made on the article that linked the stream, I'm not gonna repeat it all here haha.
As for Celestite... its okay. I bought the LP just so I could have that beautiful clear vinyl haha, also I wanted to complete my WITTR collection. Speaking of vinyls, the Thrice Woven vinyl on the 'golden mead' color looks absolutely stunning, I like it more than my diadem marble/splatter/whatever reissue.

Diadem will always be best, but I honestly dig the new one more than Two Hunters and pretty much the same as Black Cascade. Celestial Lineage is easily this band's worst for me.

I'll never forget the first time listening to Diadem. The very opening of Queen of Borrowed Light with the guitar on its own that sums up the entire album and matches the album cover perfectly. A thick, hazy, rain drenched sound eluding to the pacific northwest.

Great comments and soundoff Timezown, you explain the record's failings well.

Haven't given their latest one a spin yet, but I heard one song. The one with a female choir singing in Swedish about half way through. Sounded very promising.

I met Nathan while waiting outside the venue for the doors to open (their bus was parked literally right there on the street and they would walk to and from every now and then) and I told him that I liked Celestite, and he was like "Thanks, not a lot of people liked it haha"

Setlist was:
Born From the Serpent's Eye
Dea Artio
Vastness and Sorrow
The Old Ones Are With Us
Prayer of Transformation
I Will Lay Down My Bones Among the Rocks and Roots
Atmosphere was awesome, stage looked awesome, sound was great (one of the loudest bands I've seen), only downer was that the vocals were too low in the mix, could barely make them out. I was literally front row and there was no barrier too, so it was incredible. Caught a bit of the ending of Serpent's Eye on video, but there was no way I could get any of Vastness and Sorrow of Bones because the crowd was so crazy and almost like a sea with waves going forward to back that I had to focus on not getting bent halfway over into the stage, lmao. This is what I caught though.

Fucking awesome set there for sure.
Born from the Serpent's Eye has become one of my top 3-5 fav WITTR songs tbh.

Seriously, it's so good. And I'm still imagining the feeling of hearing that melodic tremolo riff 2:43 into Bones, ahh goddamn one of my favorite riffs ever. Sounds gay, but it was almost like a transcendent experience, gave me chills and goosebumps and everything.

Doesn't sound gay at all bro.
