if you were to ask me why i find this underwhelming i honestly wouldn't be able to tell you past 'i'm just not feeling it'



there's a couple of things i don't like much (the last two acoustic interludes, the lyrics) but otherwise it's just 'eh'

i know i've used the criticism 'uninspired' before but i'm honestly finding it to be one of the most stupid fucking things anyone can say about a record ever

listened to this a bit more last night and this morning. still don't really know how i feel about this. i haven't really warmed up to the production yet, and one troubling thought keeps coming into my head when i listen to some of the tracks:



"its like agalloch tried to make an If These Trees Could Talk album"

The beginning is sooo good with Birth and death.. and astral dialogue. then dark matter gods starts and its just so incredibly bland and directionless its frustrating. this might end up be my least favourite from them

but with those clean acoustic interludes in this album i think they tried too hard to copy "The Mantle". It just sounds forced sometimes

probably one of the most polarizing albums i've ever heard. Equal parts great and painfully disappointing

with repeated listens i honestly don't feel it's 'growing on me' as much as i am 'getting used to it', and that doesn't really make me like it any more

i listened to it once and never want to listen to it again so im not even going to bother having an opinion on it
