Late to the party.
What fucking repetition?

yeah, seriously, as much as i don't like this it isn't repetitious at all

And the only valid opinions on this album right now are by Noctus and that's fucking it!
Also dudes, stop justifying your ratings with Crysis (minus Noctus) because he's right in you only having this album for such a short period of time.
Perplexing album but I still need to give this more TIME.

hell even i don't know for sure where i stand on this record yet
if you were to ask me why i find this underwhelming i honestly wouldn't be able to tell you past 'i'm just not feeling it'
there's a couple of things i don't like much (the last two acoustic interludes, the lyrics) but otherwise it's just 'eh'

Your idea for this review is about as edgy as
this album. Can't wait another 4 years to be
tricked into listening to a bland, tedious and
uninspired record under the moniker of
Agalloch.

i know i've used the criticism 'uninspired' before but i'm honestly finding it to be one of the most stupid fucking things anyone can say about a record ever

I just don't know why we're arguing over our opinions on this...
Why can't we respect opinions for opinions? :[

listened to this a bit more last night and this morning. still don't really know how i feel about this. i haven't really warmed up to the production yet, and one troubling thought keeps coming into my head when i listen to some of the tracks:
"its like agalloch tried to make an If These Trees Could Talk album"

I would really enjoy reading an actual review.

The beginning is sooo good with Birth and death.. and astral dialogue. then dark matter gods starts and its just so incredibly bland and directionless its frustrating. this might end up be my least favourite from them
|
| |
yeah man. really is a shame how this turned out.
|
| |
nah birth and death sucks just as much as everything else
when he does that screech and the clean solo comes in i actually laughed out loud

can't agree i think its awesome.
but with those clean acoustic interludes in this album i think they tried too hard to copy "The Mantle". It just sounds forced sometimes
|
| |
probably one of the most polarizing albums i've ever heard. Equal parts great and painfully disappointing

yeah i still dont want to choose a raiting. it's awkward

with repeated listens i honestly don't feel it's 'growing on me' as much as i am 'getting used to it', and that doesn't really make me like it any more
|
| |
i listened to it once and never want to listen to it again so im not even going to bother having an opinion on it

When the whole band comes in on "Pillars, goosebumps central. I'm hearing new things every time I listen to this.

didn't get goosebumps even once while listening to this
only part that came close was the first minute of plateau and that dies away quickly
and about 15 listens genuinely hasn't helped it

wish there were more epic clean vox on this
