Yeah I'm really not into Somatic as much as their three middle albums. I've got it rated same as this but it's better by a bit.

A New Era was such a missed opportunity because it has some of their best guitarwork/drumwork, but there's still too much repetitive chugging and the drumming is really out of place with the rest of the music, especially the placement of blast beats.

Their s/t was the closest they got to fixing their flaws, and this is a step back unfortunately. I don't understand why their lyrics got so much worse.

This is Exile has their best song, Daemon, but New Era took the technicality and brutality to the next level so it's probably my favorite.

The first half is pretty technical, but after End of Flesh the songs get really slow and mostly bores me tbh

Any time I hear slow chugs I just get turned off. If you're gonna do chugs, just go all out Devourment or don't bother. Ya know?

That's mostly why I can't jam them anymore, and why their s/t is best since it has the least chugging and best (use of) drumming. This album's t/t has no breakdowns, so they seem to be moving in the right direction in that sense.

First half of New Era always caught me more. End Of Flesh's intro is oddly melodic.



And yeah the t/t of this is one of the best songs imo.
