Completely the opposite. I will never listen to a Burzum record because of the murder. To me that puts him on a permanent unwritten blacklist.
Of course there are expections. Varg's actions, beliefs and philosophy are one of the reasons why I can't tolerate Burzum ; but the main ones are that I dislike 90's norewgian black metal and that I find Burzum really boring, Varg's music bores me to death

Well, I am a commie so maybe that is the reason I am the only one who cares.
I care insofar as pro-capitalists then use it to try to undermine socialist argument. Which is fallacious of course but very common. In general there are much more important things to focus on and then the rest will eventually follow. Often this happens without the artist's consent anyway.
We talking about Kanye here? Never heard him put forward any socialist ideas. If anything the whole message his music has put forward, on his last two albums anyway, is adopting the capitalist american dream and subverting the white supremacy behind it. That's what a lot of hip hop's about in the first place, even the mainstream kind that gets dismissed as superficial and commercialised. It's not about fighting capitalism, but transforming it and taking control of it.
Rage Against The Machine in a nutshell.
When has a RATM song ever been in an advert? They've had tracks on games and the radio I guess, but that isn't intrinsically hypocritical; if anything it's a way of using capitalism to spread a socialist message. If you claim that's supporting capitalism you could argue almost anything is since it's so tied into the fabric of society, but this kind of abstinence will ultimately do far more harm before it does any good.
Tom Morello had something to say on this
"When you live in a capitalistic society, the currency of the dissemination of information goes through capitalistic channels. Would Noam Chomsky object to his works being sold at Barnes & Noble? No, because that's where people buy their books. We're not interested in preaching to just the converted. It's great to play abandoned squats run by anarchists, but it's also great to be able to reach people with a revolutionary message, people from Granada Hills to Stuttgart."

Usually with RATM I just enjoy the music and the tunes. Don't care about the message as long as the music sounds good and the track has well constructed lyrics. With a lot of socialist stuff ( see anti flag or immortal technique) the generic commie lyrics with nothing new or interesting annoys me as hell

Agreed, ins. Misha's track is way too long.
Fish, you bring up good points. Obv, society operates the way it does and we have to make our way in it no matter what our positions are. This kind of thing doesn't bother me. It is just Kanye made such a big show out of rejecting all prior channels and making his site the video and talking all this good shit about his message and who he is. He kinda gained some of my respect by doing that. But then he completely undercut it.
The thing that really drives my ire is that he COULD stand to lose money on Yeezus. He is rich enough that he doesn't need the revenue from letting these corporations use his material. He is millions of miles away from even where Rage were.

I was speaking in generalities, I just think it's a little hypocritical that a group of millionaires signed to a huge label would preach so passionately about the repercussions of capitalism and big business. You can argue they used their influence to spread a message, but they also apparently had no problem living like kings thanks to their commercial success.
Do they? I can't find anything about how or where they live apart from Tom Morello and I'm not sure how reliable it is. Where are you getting this from?

Overture is cool, dream theater influence is apparent
The Summer Jam has some gnarly riffs and sponce's last note is sweet but some parts feel awkwardly placed to make the song flow
Feed the Ground is solid all the way through but some vocal lines are a bit iffy
Zero is good for around a min or two and then gets repetitive and grows stale. Also that snare drum has wayyyyy too much reverb on it. And I don't see why Sponce didn't put vocals over the top of it either, the song would have benefited greatly imo.
The Parade of Ashes has a catchy as fuck chrous and flows well. The NIN influence comes through hard, One of my faves here though the ending feels a bit underwhelming, feels like it was cut short.
Extraneous is obvious meshuggah worship. Lovin' the time sig changes throughout and dat breakdown at 2:14 is sweet, but since i'm not a massive meshuggah fan I don't really dig too much.
Pale Aura is my straight up fave. Some people are hatin on Spencer's take on vocals but I love it. The last minute and a half is right up there with periphery's best material imo. Definitely sounds like haunted shores mix with a bit of black metal.
