"Around the Fur shits on this in every aspect"

True, the label forced them to do a more rap/rock songs because thats what the kids like me were forcing their parents to spend their money on back in the day.
Around the Fur is better in a lot of ways but like I said man, there are some genuinely emotional parts that come through in this that I think are more powerful than some of Around the Fur, even if the lyrics aren't exactly the most articulate. Also I know I keep saying this, but for the time this was really heavy and different in a way that music like this just wasn't so respect for that.

true. but yeah it was kina groundbreaking at the time. Heavy also true but not heavier than some of the grunge stuff, which predates them.

Oh yeah, I mean it's also not heavier than death metal aha - I just mean it was heavy in a different way than what people were used to if that makes sense

I understand it’s your opinion and all, also you have memories associated to this that I don’t and I’ll probably never understand it, I can only imagine your feelings. But I’ll still say Deftones always were in an unreachable league for Korn, even putting my biases towards them away.

@Relinquished Maybe, I don’t look at it like that though. I don’t think they’ve made it only to make a heavy song, I see a lot of emotions here.
|
| |
@ Lucca oh, I didn't mean to imply that. AiC's Dirt reached nr. 6 in the charts in '92, so what I'm trying to say is that nu-metal ( and its success) is a logical conclusion to the success grunge had. In other words bands like AiC laid kinda the groundwork for darker and heavier music in the mainstream.(and were a contributing factor for rock/metal detached from the 80s )
"Deftones always were in an unreachable league for Korn"
Korn, Life is Peachy and Follow the leader are all better than Adrenaline imo.

I remember reading the lyrics years ago and how Chino was rapping them and it came off that way to me. now put that up against Headup which was actually personal for chino and cavalera.

Issues has 8 great songs and Life is Peachy has 6 at absolute most, more like 5
Follow probably 8 or 9 great toons,
debut is easily the best- 10+ great songs, and 'Need To' is a classic, 'Ball Tongue' not far behind
