old rpgs were so dope
i wonder how pillars is
or original sin for that matter

I'm sure Daggerfall woulda seemed cooler at the time, but as a guy who has gone back to it after playing Morrowind and Oblivion first, it doesn't hold up, especially against other games of that time. Bethesda were almost too far ahead of their time by trying to create a game of that scope. Top-down RPGs were much more viable and digestible back then, and still hold up a thousand times better.

Pillars of Eternity is incredible, I highly recommend it. It's on special on GOG right now, also on Fanatical. Buy it ASAP.
Original Sin...I didn't like it. But Original Sin 2 is a vast improvement. Buy that.

sadly i dont have time for long rpgs anymore... spent most of the last few years with nifty indies (especially rogue-lites since theyre playable in short bursts) and replaying old shooters
that and i gave up being a pirate once steam got big, but i cant really afford to pay 40 euro for some of this shit i mean cmon

DO IT. PoE comes out next month so buy it and play it ASAP!
I cannot express how much of a beautiful experience it is.

idk sales are so common these days that i barely ever pay full price for video games. today i got dark souls 2 sotfs on PC for $8
pillars is $12 on Fanatical rn as well
|
| |
the only full-price games i buy now are on Switch because bloody Nintendo games literally never go down in price ever
otherwise even games that were released late last year still get 50% off PC sales extremely frequently. gotta play the market

"idk sales are so common these days that i barely ever pay full price for video games. today i got dark souls 2 sotfs on PC for $8"

|
| |
"sales being so common also means you buy more shit so u have less money to spend"

Never heard of Pillars of Eternity, might check it out. I need to get remastered Shadow of the Colossus too now that I finally have a Playstation console, never played it before.
"Fallout 4 loses the atmosphere." I disagree with this, it's very different from 3 and New Vegas but in a good way. I never got so engrossed and addicted in playing an rpg than in this game, besides Oblivion and Skyrim. It's such a detailed, intriguing post-apocalyptic setting and the best I've seen in video game form so far. I really like 3 and New Vegas too, but the more realistic and vast nature of 4 appeals to me the most.
I wish I played Morrowind around when it came out; I went back to it after playing Oblivion and it didn't hold up to me. Many say it's the best Elder Scrolls, but I'm not sure how much of that is nostalgia from the time. I'm sure it was impressive in the early 2000s, but I just couldn't get into it after having been spoiled by Oblivion.

"I never got so engrossed and addicted in playing an rpg than in this game"

4 does feel very different from the other Fallouts but I don't see how it isn't an RPG. I didn't play much of 3 or New Vegas when they were released, mainly just a few years ago around when 4 came out, so I'm not that familiar with the history of the series.

sotfs makes a number of balance changes its not really the same game afaik
|
| |
yeah i don't really get it either Mike, feels like an rpg to me.
