I'm curious how much you'd like this album Jethro.

I'll give it a spin. I already gave A Pleasant Shade of Grey and Disconnected a 4.

That's my favourite (have it a 4.5), though I like their entire discography to some extent.

Mike Mangini just isn't a good drummer for Dream Theater. He's too stiff and boring.

Couldn't agree more. That set up drummer audition signified the artistic death of the band, for me at least.

I mean, if you want your band to push the boundaries further, you don't dismiss drummers such as Marco Minnemann.

On another note, I got my physical copy of Darkness In A Different Light yesterday and I'm jamming it since.

@ Jethro

listen to Parallels and Inside Out, you will like them for sure.

@Nagrarok; The first album with Mark Zonder on board. Apparently their best period.

@voivod; I will do. Thanks.

I couldn't agree more. Marco has done some amazing things for music and I feel he would be the best inspiration for a band like DT.

Is there a place where I could listen to the album in full?

Now that makes sense, I thought DT didn't even call him for auditions, which would be cray cray.

"And I remember, Frankie Solomon, their manager, said, 'What do you mean you have to think about

it?'"

I mean it's DT, every heard of them? :P

"He understood, initially, what the band wanted out of a drummer — to play the parts the way Mike

Portnoy played the parts"

Precisely

Except that Mangini does not even come close to the beast that was Mike Portnoy

Nah he wouldn't really have played a major role in composing, their downfall was inevitable
