They were at their prime back in 2003-2004, they were darker, heavier, energetic, and their stage presence was only beat and matched by few. Not to mention that their sound was not radio friendly at all.

City of evil is very dull. Waking the fallen was ok. Haven't listened to either in a while though, and this album doesn't make me want to explore those albums again.

Shadows doesn't go for high notes anymore since 2005, it's quite lame. Gates definitely improved a lot on his playing though.

Nope, Shadows used to go recklessly for C5 and above pre-2005, now he rarely goes for them, watch the end of every performance of songs like So Far Away and I Won't See You Tonight Part 1. Also M.I.A., he lowers to the third octave.

I didn't expect to like this album as much as I do. The second half seems better written, but the
first few songs are still really fun.
There are a lot of cheesy moments but a lot of good moments too.
I also like how the album Nightmare is alphabetically next in my media player and thus plays
automatically after this album ends. If you have the version of this album with St. James at the end,
Nightmare is a perfect next song.
