This shit fucking pulverizes. Found about these guys and Catharsis in the same night. Metalcore was just such a strong, stacked genre in the 90s.

converge simply cant be topped if you lump them in the metalcore genre
like people can argue EHDWDWJN EVERYONE SAYS THAT ok no band in metalcore has a discog filled with as much quality
jane doe, petitioning, crashing, fail me, poacher diaries, unloved/weeded out, axe
botch has like 3 releases two of which are very good one thats outstanding
coalesce has two great albs and some lame ones
converge has one of the best albums of all time
idk dillinger, knut, cave in, 7a7p, beecher, botch and maybe rorscach have made the best stuff in the genre in my view. I used to be HUGE on metalcore but it kinda grew off me, not enough unbelievable stuff compared to other metal genres
which is sad cause stylistically good real metalcore makes my heart weep

I generally agree with everything youve said there except that the only converge albums that have ever blown me away are jane doe, you fail me and all we love. Their old stuff (90s stuff basically) is cool and all solid but none of it has ever really stuck with me.
And yeah Ox and Give them Rope by coalesce arent great but Functioning on Impatience has really grown on me recently, probably in my top 3 albums in general.
Dillinger wore off me hard, Challenger by Knut is solid but none of their other stuff is that great to me, 7A7P are cool but bore me a bit, Rorschach, KIG and Deadguy all rip, Cave in dont do much for me and Beecher are solid but not titan level
Metalcore is still my thing but tbh i really think ive run the well dry, if you have any obscure recs pls suggest them

youve probs heard most of the obscure metalcore I have lol
idk man fair assesment but I never understood why when forever comes crashing is so undervalued. Their most thrashy/metalcore record, and brilliant songwriting. Absolutely dynamite
functioning on impatience is lit nation
yea knut's challenger is top 5 metalcore, they have one other worthwhile release the rest are a drag sadly
capsule's blue is a stunning obscure metalcore gem. I doubt you javent heard it, but if not check NOW

Yeah man ive heard Blue, good shit
Coalesce took ages to grow on me demi, give Functioning another try when you get the chance

Coalesce is part of what I'd call the Big 5 in metalcore. With everyone in their prime, though, they're like the second to least good out of all of them. It's like 1. Converge 2. Botch/Dillinger(toss up) 3. Coalesce 4. Cave In. IMO, of course.
