I like a ton of atmospheric non-metal stuff, but this album was just boring to me. I'd probably like
it a lot more if it was completely instrumental.

The band is releasing an instrumental version in a week and a half. Give that a try

I'll probably do that, considering the vocals are what made me really tired of listening to this.

if you wanna base how good periphery is off ratings most people have them at a 4 soooo.
thats why their albums have averages of 3.4 and 3.6, lol

i dont know why so many people are praising the vocals on this, they're super monotone a lot of the time, and you can
hear the autotune in multiple songs

Album Rating: 2.5
Yeah that's what I really didn't like about them, they sounded autotuned which I hate with a burning
passion.

the melodies are so good.
I just wish the album wasn't so homogenous though: it could do with more variety

They change singer so much they're drowning in a pool...
Brilliance.

@Climatic
Monotone - Unchanging in pitch; without intonation or expressiveness.
You are using the incorrect word. Ashe is pretty much the opposite of Monotone in every way. I think you are referring more to his stylistic approach which, to be fair, stays relatively unchanged the entire record.

Or can be likened to monotonous- "Dull, tedious, and repetitious; lacking in variety and interest."
Semantics are not really up for debate outside of sniping when the intended meaning is perfectly clear.
This album has edged closer to a 2.0 for me on it's last listen, it's just a sheep in prog clothing. The more I have heard of it, the more it feels almost like a paint-by-numbers progression from one shallow pool of sound to another.

Nocturne is the only track on this thing up to par with One. TesseracT has gone soft, and definitely for the worse.

is what i meant

Ok so i might actually bring this down to a 3. First half of the album got me all "ah shit imma love this in time" but nah. First 5 tracks carry a lot of personality, they simply rule my considerably sized chode. Last 5 tracks aka second half, are the opposite. It feels pretty boring and dragged out. The sax solos are pretty good but they don't save the album from what it is at that point.
