Sampling is a thing of great beauty and consumate skill if done properly. The possibility of building an entire track around a mere, unimportant snippet of another song is extraordinary

I think this might become a 4.5 soon. It's really great. Amazing attention to detail.

You do have to have a really good to ear for what works and what doesn't. The sampling process itself is easy, but the music building aspect is certainly not.

"@Wolf - that may be true, but it's always better to record your own stuff. Some samples are great, but sometimes you have a vision in your head that you can only match if you record everything yourself."

Oh yeah, def. I'm just saying you already have access to shitloads of stuff and a lot of people work with sampling libraries, especially when you mostly do party party baller jams like the whole generic 'brostep'. If you do stuff like Frazer does it's probably practical to be able to do so.

But as I said, for me personally it's also kind of a money thing. I mean I'd totally get myself a good zoom mic or dynamic mic and pre-amps and shit but I can't afford that.

In itself a sample is just a sound that found, to be judged partially on the effort involved in acquiring it. The creative process involved in piecing together these things into a whole is what can make it extraordinary. The reason why thiefing and pitching down just one vocal snippet is wasteman and something like Since I Left You is the most magnificent creation of man since Oedipus Rex.

oh, but I perfectly understand people love this. It's certainly well-crafted and just sounds good, but it hasn't grabbed me (yet?)
