TTNG most recent album perhaps? Maybe even Minus the Bear's "Menos El Oso" or if you prefer proggier stuff "Planet of Ice"

I haven't seen them live, but their audiotree session was amazing. I didn't even know they were on tour right now

Been meaning to check some more of this band's stuff out. I remember the song I heard reminded me a lot of My Epic.

Yeah i'd say they're pretty similar. I like this a little more, the lyrics aren't as obtrusive here.

Yeah, My Epic goes a little overboard sometimes.

I worked the opposite way than most, I think, and heard this long before the debut. I just started listening to their first this week, and find it to be all over the place and not nearly as melodically strong as this album. It might just be my unfamiliarity with it though.
'French Girls' is really engrossing though (particularly those 'hell no's!').
Also, on both albums, Jesse's harmonies are fascinating. They're more often fourths and fifths and always an unnerving 'power-chord' kind of sound that always catch me off guard. Such an interesting choice for a vocalist, and it's one I'm glad he makes because it gives the band a very distinctive sound.
See, 0:41 of 'Kids with Fake Guns' ("some sort of virus in her head, where'd she get it?"). 1:23 of 'Old Nature' ("end of time"). 2:02 in 'French Girls' ("hit the ground", "drink your wine") especially. Just really clever choices...

He is definitely an amazing vocalist. I prefer the debut to this album, but it could use some trimming. It is a long album and it feels fucking LOOOOOOOONGG

What are your favourite tracks of the Inevitable and I?

French Girls (When the song calms down and the outro kicks in is absolutely beautiful) and An End Weight (I really love how mellow this song is and how it leads into the outro. The lyrics hit so hard). I strongly prefer the first half of the album to the second half though

The whole album is good, but the first four tracks are especially killer.
