While ‘Tempest’ and ‘Leathers’ come to mind first, there is a wealth of quality material present here. ‘Romantic Dreams’ has one of the most memorable choruses on the album whilst also possessing some of the most guttural screams Moreno has to offer. ‘Rosemary’ excels at creating an atmosphere you can truly get lost in, and its gorgeous outro is among the best and most simple things Deftones has ever done instrumentally. Of course, there is the opener ‘Swerve City’, which arrives full throttle to a wall of electric guitars and vocal ranges that foreshadow what is arguably Chino’s best overall performance on any album. ‘Poltergeist’ and ‘Gauze’ are the album’s in-your-face offerings, but they come across as more mature and skilled compared to some of their older loud just for the fuck of it songs, which is largely due to an increased focus on instrumental tonality and song structure. Even though certain efforts like ‘Entombed’ and ‘What Happened To You?’ fade into the background of the whole experience more easily, there really isn’t a track worth ignoring on Koi No Yokan. It’s a front-to-back record, and that means you never have to break momentum by hitting the skip button.

Consider the review forever unfinished. I couldn't get it together in a way that I liked, it's late anyway, and I have a 3 day weekend with my gf coming up where I won't be on, around, or thinking about sputnik

Sounds like a sowing review. I'm joking but it's good, Dev needs to wake up (though).

I think the closest I came to dreaming about Sputnik was when I had a wet dream about Jenna Fischer popping out of my avatar, climbing on top of me, and me rocking a motorboat on those bad boys.
