"I've always been baffled at how BTBAM is considered a "scenegrind" or Hot Topic band. They're clearly more indebted to old-school prog metal than that stuff"
Ehhh they sorta were a scene-adjacent band pre-Colors (particularly the first two albums). Tommy went on the punk rock mba's podcast and that's kinda all they talked about haha.
Their fanbase apparently shifted really hard towards metal fans starting with this album which is why they barely ever perform songs from before this album anymore (besides Selkies and sometimes Mordecai)
