I always introduce people to the band through My Father but White Light From the Mouth of Infinity was always a favourite of mine and I consider it one of their best. It's more folk orientated but still a great balance between purdy and ugly. Also, fuck man, The Angels of Light > a good portion of Swans albums.

also this review was v. nice (and so awesomely long!) although yes i'm not sure i really buy into the "30 years" thing he said... it's almost reassuring to know he treats his music tongue-in-cheek
