All my fav Camel albums are superior to this. What I appreciate of Heritage, it's its great blend of good classic acts and great modern prog acts influences with a tinge of metal. I enjoy where their inspiration are coming from and what they did...grrrr I'd rather like explain myself in French here...

I don't get why this is getting such bad ratings, I'm sort of new to being a huge Opeth fan (I've had some of there music for awhile, but didn't listen to it enough) so maybe that is why i find it so enjoyable. I see it as exactly like their older music: prog to the max, lots of technicality and sudden changes from acoustic passages to heavier riffage, only this time around they have brought the intensity and dynamics down a notch to appeal to more groovy, relaxing and atmospheric sound. I love the 70's vibe of the album, and it's even more interesting to see a band like Opeth chose to head that direction. It's still dark as hell, and the eeriness of the songs is better than ever.

It is groovy as hell. A nice pair of headphones really dispels all the components.

Just saw the first setlist from the first show on the Heritage tour and I gotta say I'm really disappointed in the lack of heavy tracks they played. They played like half of this though apparently.

That's disappointing. I'm seeing them on 10/18.

Yeah... not sure how I feel about this. I wish they had a few more heavier songs, nothing drastic even, just to mix things up.

Yeah I'm seeing them on 10/1 and I really hope they put some variation in the setlist cause this isnt looking too good. No songs from Blackwater Park or Ghost Reveries either wtf.

That is a pretty awesome setlist, in my opinion. I've always wanted to see Patterns in the Ivy 2. It's one of their best songs. No clue why it was only used as a bonus track.

Yeah, but you definitely love Opeth more than I do, Angel, haha.
I get that this is their Heritage tour and they want a consistent feel to the set and am fine with that (although I'll be sad if I never get to hear any heavier songs live)... but I almost wish this was in a seated venue, lol.

Yeah, I will say they could have scrapped Throat of Winter for a better track and probably Face of Melinda too. I've seen them twice already, so for me, it's good to see them play some stuff that would normally be unconventional in their setlists.

The capacity of human intelligence seems to limit the capabilities to expand upon any possible creative aptitudes. Indeed, if one cannot even notice the facets that the ingenuities around him are comprised of, how can he be expected to fashion a beast of his own? This inveterate sense of constraint is a great blow to the veracity of mankind’s abilities. It restrains us and holds our minds to the ground below, averting any possibility of rising above ourselves to something greater; something not fathomed by the conventional mind. This concept of seeking to go beyond one’s self, known as “transcendence”, is essentially a gateway to unlocking pieces of ourselves that can lead to some of the most elaborate and significant creations of our world. For many, this quest to transcend and form creations that were once considered unthinkable and overwhelming consumes life. Certainly it is rare to find such people, but when they are found, creative barriers are destroyed.

The thing is that I've never gotten a chance to see Opeth until now (except for my huge lack of awareness about their show at the Royal Albert Hall when I actually happened to be in London...), so it's kind of weird that this is what I'm going to hear the first time I see them. Who knows, though, they might play a few different songs on the second night in New York...
Some kid on the forum I took this setlist off of didn't know what "Patterns in the Ivy II" was... I know it's a bonus track, but, oh, my god...

Lol. That song is brilliant.
I suppose I understand wanting to get some more diversity for your first time seeing them live. I'm actually really surprised at the lack of classic stuff. Really never thought I'd see Demon of the Fall taken off their setlists. Wish they would've thrown in some more old and heavy stuff, but I have to say I'm fairly content with their selections. I'd actually kind of like to see them do some covers live at some point too.
