The drumming is still impressive, but far more straight foward in places than on DEI (the fact that double pedals are absent from most if not all of the album says it all really).
It says nothing (pun intended). The absence of one pedal doesn't equal lesser/less impressive playing, if that's what you're implying. Double bass can be cool and impressive. In the end though, it is quite overused in metal. This album is a great example of how to create solid metal without a constant onslaught of kicks. In fact this album reinvented the genre almost without the use of blatant double bass. Refreshening, really.
