My favorite sludge album is probably When The Kite String Pops
The best music comes from Louisiana

I would rather burn in hell than cling to man-made falsehoods. I would rather live in constant doubt and fear, expecting an unfeeling abyss than embrace false hope or extravagant fairy tales.

This is my favorite sludge album and it's not even close. Some days it's my favorite metal album in general or just favorite album period.

This is definitely my fave Thou and somewhat of a landmark for the doomier side of sludge, for me personally. I should revisit some of their other albums because I don't remember them quite hitting the same (although Heathen is admittedly rather good, from memory)

Didn't even mention this but I got to see these guys again last month. They sound so fucking good every single time and I love that they almost strip down the songs. I don't know the setlist, but everything they played sounded like they could have been from the same album. They are just so good. I also implore everyone here to check out LAST from SLC, UT. They opened and it ruled. Basically experimental doom/sludge but you need to hear it to understand. It's two members, one on a gigantic synth set-up who also does vocals and one that plays the drums and various other stuff. Think The Body, but not.
