I love this album. =)
The sounds are so good and the vocals are incredible. Their albums are always so distinct.

Exactly. Great use of subtly after Two Dancers.
Proves that they can go as quite as a whisper and still say so much.
On top of that; they are really tangible which I like.
Always re-inventing themselves while sounding totally unique. =)

definitely one of the most promising british bands around at the moment

I'd agree with that Ned. At least one of the only ones with their own sound. I'm so tired of hearing copy and paste alternative rock groups from England. =/

This owns. It's a shame it didn't get more love in the various year end lists. It seemed to have a good buzz around it critically when it was released, but then seems to have been forgotten somewhat.
|

Not much hype behind it as other records I guess. It still received very well from the media but never got any direct hype, you know?
Still doesn't take away from being an incredible album in my opinion. =)

I was thinking along the lines of its metacritic score more than anything else. Regardless, this ties with Eye Contact as my AOTY.

Can't argue with 85. That's extremely high.
But yeah, other artists like Adele, Bon Iver and PJ Harvey just received more attention I guess.

it's a terrible scare... but that's why the dark is there... see you don't have to see what you can't bear.

I find it awesome how they squished in all of these electronic filled songs bluntly into their songs
yet still gave them room to breath and exist naturally in context of the song.
Like that weird eruption of the quiet, subtle electronic jingle occurring throughout 'Reach A Bit
Further' that just blows out of nowhere after the first verse and then dies and becomes a prop in the
background again.
There's so much quiet strokes of detail to catch in this record. They balanced the subtly so
beautifully in Smother, as opposed to the loudness of their first two records.
