It's half black/half death metal. A case could be made for either genre.

Blackened Death Metal. Pretty much. I'd say its black metal personally but technically it is blackened death metal.

Good choice, its a real masterpiece of dark music. You should get your hands on the "remastered version", production is very good for this genre.

Great album, but unlike most people i dont feel like its better than The Somberlain, but this album has the best Dissection song ever Where Dead Angel's Lie.

I would say it's about 80% black metal, and 20% death/thrash metal.

You guys are overanalyzing it too much. It's simply melodic black metal. People on this site tend to be overly critical of what is black metal. Kinda funny coming from me, a huge advocate of black metal. Black metal would never expand if everyone was like you guys. This album was obviously intended to be melodic black metal. Just because it doesn't stick to the Darkthrone formula doesn't mean it isn't black metal. As Fenriz said, "Black metal is not about seclusion from other music."

Yes, some people are quick to call albums black metal that clearly aren't, but I find it funny that black metal albums that include slight influences from anything else at all are automatically called blackened death metal or something on this site. It stems from elitism whether you guys realize it or not. If you listen to death metal or even melodic death metal, it doesn't sound at all like this. This is much darker, thinner, and the songs are written completely differently.

Most of it is an explanation of people being too critical. Either way, I know you probably read it, but just want to find a way to make a bad joke out of it as usual. Lots of laughs.
