Neptune Is Dead is a masterpiece. There’s an effortless fluidity to this album that’s missing from a lot of the bands they’re compared to, and it’s composed in a way which generally eschews the whole build up/release template. The drumming is also top tier and sounds fantastic in the mix. I’m surprised this album isn’t rated higher, it’s aged extremely well. I think it’s interesting to compare this album with Teethed, because although they appear quite different on the surface, you can definitely hear the framework of it in some of the more trancy, experimental sections which have more in common with kraut rock than BM.
