Indeed the drums sound better on the original but the new version sounds pleasantly full. Not a fan of the beginning of that Premier Ciel snippet but I can dig the rest

Will the remaster be available at the store?

its just compressed guys

I don't think it's just compressed. Some audio tracks like some extra vocals are clearer imo. It's not just a compression, but yeah, I prefer the original mix especially in Premier Ciel. Anyway Comme Un Sage seems persuasive

Well the original drums is much better, but I don't dislike vocals and bass

I figure we'll have to wait until it actually comes out next week.
Jethro, the album is available for pre-order on Amazon Canada, which can be found by a link on the L'Heptade XL website.

There is also an option including CD + DVD. The DVD should be something like their first official live of L'Heptade with 5.1 audio. Probably the DVD downmixed to 2.0 will sounds better than the CD.

Yes the DVD is based on a show recorded during L'Heptade tour in 1977.
Thanks guys for the infos.

It's on Spotify! https://open.spotify.com/album/2FIkoUKJSgNZNzO10lMHTg
After a whole listen using a simple pair of earphones I'm fully satisfied, I can't wait for when I'll listen to it on CD with a proper pair of headphones (I'm not at home atm). It's an honest remaster, with true changes and stuff. It's cleaner (it hasn't the background noise that's on the original CD) and bass and vocals are more foreground. I was a bit worried when I listened to those snippets because especially in Premier Ciel the original seemed so far better.

God, what a sonic experience. I can hear certain things I've never noticed before, even a few lyrics seem to be changed on the way, but I guess it's an illusion. The vocals show up so clearly. What a singer Serge is...more than ever. Everything is so close, you can almost touch the instruments. That's really a benediction that the original master tapes of L'Heptade were finally found after 40 years...
I'm currently at track ''Le Premier Ciel''. Bravo, Serge et Louis. C'est du bon travail de remixage!

Jethro do you still see it on Spotify? Here in Italy it's disappeared.

Same here, Cusman. Copyright matter, probably. I own an original copy, so I'm not sure if I'm gonna buy the XL version despite its high performance. Well it's very likely.

I've only ever heard this on vinyl, how does XL compare if anyone knows?

@RunOfTheMill, everything except the drums is louder (clearer) in the mix. It's quite magical.
You can compare both versions in these excerpts;

@unOfTheMill: I checked and my assumptions were true. The original has a bit of background noise but it has also more DR (dynamic range). Both are good, they're just different. If you (like me) own a pair of flat headphones that don't emphasize any particular frequencies, well the lesser dynamic won't be a problem and you'll notice the less background noise.

Alright, thanks for the replies guys.
Also just passed a billboard advertizing L'Heptade XL while taking the bus!

Cool!! In the dear Montréal area, I assume ;)

Just started spinning the XL. I'm not very familiar with the original album actually, I only know that I like it because when a friend showed it to me I laughed for how ridiculously good it seemed
