I think a large amount of the negative reaction to it can be attributed to anti-hype. The same will be true here of the new Thrice album.
I'm not saying that everyone who dislikes this album is wrong or just trying to be a pain. It just seems that this having a 3.9 avg (the same at Hail To The Theif) is a misrepresentation of the album. I'd say it's as least as good as In Rainbows (4.1 avg) but then maybe I'm just connecting with it more for some strange reason
your last two comments have been really stupid but hey don't let me stop you, keep analyzing those sputnik ratings until you figure all of this out

chill guys, I was just musing on the average rating, it surprised me that's it's as low as it is. im a big math nerd and basically the reason I use this site is because it combines my two favourite "school" subjects (math and music), so i like to analyze album ratings and junk. I guess I'd better keep it to myself next time.

Am I the only person who is waiting for the album to sink in? It seems like everyone is either jizzing over it or trying to be cool by rating it pointlessly low out of pure reaction. If this a 1.5, St. Anger is a -5. Radiohead's music has always been a "grower". I'm pretty sure In Rainbows' average rating was like a 3.8 at one time, and now it's jumped all the way to a 4.1.

i seem to remember everyone freaking out and giving In Rainbows a 5 when it came out then lowering it to a 4-4.5 within a month.

The difference is that when In Rainbows was released the site wasn't being flooded with shitty
reviews...

yah that's so true. I almost miss when this place was overrun by Power Metal enthusiasts, at least the quality of writing was a couple of steps above dog shit

chill guys, I was just musing on the average rating, it surprised me that's it's as low as it is
sigh
the album was released just a few days ago and people are still trying to digest it. 3.8 is still a really good rating. on RYM, where the average ratings are way more reliable than sputnik, it's a 3.53
the problem with the average sputnik user is that anything below a 4 is judged as a disappointment

haha sorry but you have 38 comments (and I'm assuming a 2010-2011 join date) so unless this is an alt, there's no way you were around to witness the In Rainbows jerk-off session on this site

I don't see it as a disappointment, I was just suprised, I thought the album would fare (fair?) better here. Seriously, I wasn't getting all pissy I just like to analyze all of the pointless data on sputnik it gets me off.
