Despite the fact that this is a decent review, I have to neg it. Seriously you gave a 5 to every single Metallica album, well besides the 2 Load(-s of crap) albums.
There has to be some barometer of objectivity! I like Metallica, and I can at least say that they might have 2 classic thrash albums. However, not every album is "the best ever" because they are "my favorite band". I suggest listening to some more thrash relative to each albums period and at least that way gauge its according to that. i.e. (Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, Testament)
Still though St. Anger sucked, I still have the jewel CD case which I use as coaster.

If I didn't know about Metallica I'd think this must be the heaviest album ever after reading this. I mean, it sounds like some brutal death or something. Is this a riff on Lars Ulrich's explanations ?
I think this album is okay, if a bit monotonous. Has enjoyable fragments. But judged in the perspective of their earlier work and people's expectations, I can see where the bashing is coming from
Also, has anyone noticed how nicely asymptotic the grade-chart is ? It's amazing.
